Return & Refund Policy

At Specialty Coatings Inc. (“SCI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), we understand that specialty coatings and related products are often purchased for specific applications, specifications, projects, and customer requirements. Because many of our products are specialty, hazardous, made-to-order, or sourced specifically for an order, returns are subject to the conditions outlined below.

Return Requests

All return requests must be submitted by email to info@specialtycoatingsinc.com within 30 days of purchase.

Please include:

  • Your order number
  • The product(s) you wish to return
  • The reason for the return
  • Any relevant supporting information or photographs

Submitting a return request does not guarantee that the return will be approved. All returns are subject to review and approval by Specialty Coatings Inc.

If a return is approved, SCI will provide instructions for returning the product.

Restocking Fee

Approved returns are subject to a 50% restocking fee, in addition to any applicable return shipping costs.

The restocking fee reflects the costs associated with vendor agreements as well as receiving, inspecting, handling, restocking, and processing specialty coating products.

Return Shipping

Unless otherwise agreed in writing by Specialty Coatings Inc., the customer is responsible for return shipping costs.

Original shipping charges are non-refundable.

Customers should not ship products back to SCI without receiving return instructions and approval.

Products That Cannot Be Returned

The following products are generally non-returnable and are considered final sale:

  • Opened or used products
  • Custom-mixed or custom-tinted products
  • Made-to-order (MTO) products
  • Non-stock or specially sourced products
  • Hazardous materials and dangerous goods
  • Products purchased with customer-specific requirements or specifications
  • Certificates, reports, and other documentation
  • Shipping charges

Certain products may be subject to additional manufacturer or supplier restrictions.

Made-to-Order and Custom Products

Products identified as Made to Order (MTO), custom mixed, custom tinted, or otherwise produced specifically for the customer cannot be cancelled or returned once the order has been placed.

Where applicable, customers will be required to acknowledge the MTO or custom-product terms before completing their purchase.

Product Condition

Returned products must be unopened, unused, and in their original condition and packaging unless SCI has specifically approved otherwise.

We cannot accept returns of products that have been opened, mixed, tinted, altered, contaminated, or otherwise used.

Shelf Life

Customers are responsible for reviewing product shelf-life requirements before placing an order and for communicating any specific shelf-life requirements to SCI before purchase.

SCI will not approve a return solely because a product does not meet a customer's desired remaining shelf life when no specific shelf-life requirement was communicated and agreed upon at the time of order.

Damaged Products

Damage must be reported to info@specialtycoatingsinc.com as soon as possible and no later than 5 business days after receipt.

Please provide:

  • Order number
  • Description of the damage
  • Photographs of the shipping container
  • Photographs of the product and packaging
  • Any other information requested by SCI

Do not discard damaged packaging or product until SCI has had an opportunity to review the claim.

Refunds

Approved refunds will be processed within 14 days of Specialty Coatings Inc. receiving the approved returned product.

Refund amounts are subject to applicable restocking fees, non-refundable shipping charges, documentation charges, and any other applicable deductions described in this policy.

Refunds will generally be issued to the original payment method.

Questions Before You Order

Because specialty coatings may be subject to manufacturer restrictions, hazardous-material requirements, shelf-life considerations, specification requirements, and made-to-order conditions, we encourage customers to contact SCI before placing an order if they have questions regarding product suitability, packaging, shelf life, documentation, or return eligibility.
